Place small images/illustrations within the text between paragraphs as close as possible to the point where they are first mentioned, but not before your first mention. Larger images (e.g. detailed scatterplot graphs) may need to be separately included on the next nearest full page, appropriately orientated.

If you refer to an image in your paper/thesis/report/presentation you should make cite it in the text and include it in your reference list. Format for the in-text citation: (Author, year, page number). Format for the reference in the reference list for an online source: Author, A. A. (year).

Fonts must be 10, 11, or 12 points in size. Superscripts and subscripts (e.g., formulas, or footnote or endnote numbers) should be no more than 2 points smaller than the font size used for the body of the text.

Inserting images Jpeg files can be inserted into a Word document by clicking on 'Insert' on the dropdown menu and then 'Picture', or simply copying and pasting.In either case, you should number your images and given the figure number and the page number at the relevant point in your dissertation.

You can use Google Image search "search by image" option to find other copies of that same image on other sites. Second, you need to find the copyright statement for that image on the site of the owner. In many cases, you'll find a copyright statement as part of the "Terms of Service" for the whole web site.

There are two ways to organize your images: either place them in your text next to the paragraph where you discuss them (Figure 1), or put them all together at the end of the essay (Figure 2). Images always need captions. Captions should do two things; label the image and tell us the image's source.
