The release repository contains the final versions (releases) of artifacts. Simply put, a release artifact stands for an artifact whose content should not be modified. Release repositories are enabled by default for all repositories defined in our settings. xml or pom.

You can create new releases with release notes, @mentions of contributors, and links to binary files, as well as edit or delete existing releases. You can also create, modify, and delete releases by using the Releases API.

On GitHub.com, navigate to the main page of the repository. To the right of the list of files, click Releases. To copy a unique URL to your clipboard, find the release you want to link to, right click the title, and copy the URL.

A release is simply a point in the lifecycle of a software project where the maintainers believe the software is worth trying and using. Pre-release releases are used for cases where the code is in early preview and may still contain bugs.

If the release is created from "Draft a new release" button on the /releases page, both events will trigger, as the release goes from state "draft" to "published". If the release is created by scripts like release-it , bypassing "draft" stage and becoming "published" directly, only release:published will trigger.
