Unite Line Charter For Free

The UN's Membership has grown from the original 51 Member States in 1945 to the current 193 Member States.

The Charter consists of a preamble and 111 articles grouped into 19 chapters. The preamble consists of two principal parts. The first part contains a general call for the maintenance of peace and international security and respect for human rights.

Article 51 Nothing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of individual or collective self-defence if an armed attack occurs against a Member of the United Nations, until the Security Council has taken measures necessary to maintain international peace and security.

Article 4. Membership in the United Nations is open to all other peace-loving states which accept the obligations contained in the present Charter and, in the judgment of the Organization, are able and willing to carry out these obligations.

As such, the UN Charter is an instrument of international law, and UN Member States are bound by it. The UN Charter codifies the major principles of international relations, from sovereign equality of States to the prohibition of the use of force in international relations.

The Charter lays down seven principles. These include the principles of sovereign equality, fulfillment of obligation assumed by the members in ance with the Charter in good faith , settlement of international disputes in a peaceful manner so that international peace and security are not threatened .

In ance with Article 96, paragraph 1, of the Charter of the United Nations ?[t]he General Assembly or the Security Council may request the International Court of Justice to give an advisory opinion on any legal question?.

The opening phrase "We the peoples of the United Nations ..", echoing the preamble of the United States Constitution, was suggested by US congressman and Conference delegate Sol Bloom.
