Integrate Signed Summer Camp Transportation For Free

Pupil Transportation Education Law (EL 3635) does not contain a maximum length of time that a pupil may be expected to spend riding on a school bus. However, it is widely accepted that the en route time must be reasonable.

Students are assigned a Yellow School Bus if: The student is in grades K-6. The student lives in the same district as the school (if attending a public school) or the same borough (if attending a non-public or charter school, or a citywide Gifted & Talented program)

All YRDSB students in Grades JK-3 who live within 1.2 km of their school are not eligible for transportation. All YRDSB students in Grades 4-8 who live within 1.6 km of their school are not eligible for transportation.

If a school bus has stopped directly in front of a school to pick up or let off children, pass from either direction at no more than 10 mph. The fines for the improper passing of a school bus are $102 to $252. A driver convicted of this offense can be sentenced to up to 15 days of jail, or 15 days of community service.

Education Law requires that non-city school districts provide transportation for all children in grades K-8 who live more than two miles from the school they legally attend and for all children in grades 9-12 who live more than three miles from the school they legally attend, up to a distance of 15 miles.

By law in Florida, school buses must be provided for students who live two or more miles from the school, except sometimes in the case of charter schools.

City school districts and the city portion of enlarged city school districts are not required to provide transportation, except for suitable transportation for children with handicapping conditions. These districts may, however, by a majority vote of the board of education, opt to provide transportation.
