Assign Zip Field For Free

Zip codes are a system of postal codes used by the United States Postal Service. The basic format consists of five decimal numerical digits. To reduce potential problems, use a text format while creating US zip code fields. The correct field format of a US zip code field in an Acoustic Campaign database should be text.

Zip codes are always 5 characters, hence you would need a CHAR datatype, rather than VARCHAR.

The ZIP in ZIP Code stands for Zone Improvement Plan, and it was introduced July 1, 1963, as part of a larger Postal Service Nationwide Improved Mail Service (NIMS) plan to improve the speed of mail delivery.

These should be placed on the same line as the street address. Place the city, state, and ZIP Code in that order on the last line. This must be the last line. Never place an ?attention line,? telephone number, or other entries after the ZIP Code line.

It is preferred that all City, State, and ZIP Code information be on a single line. If that is not possible, the ZIP Code, including the ZIP+4 Code, may be placed below the city/state information.

Select File > Options. In the Access Options dialog box, select Current Database. Under Application Options, select the Compact on Close check box. Select OK.

Actually, zip code 99999 doesn't even exist. In fact, the highest real zip code is 99950, for Ketchikan, Alaska. Still, if you scour your database, there's a good chance you'll find more than a few 99999 zip codes. Most organizations find that it's been entered as a placeholder in their shipment database.
