Insert a Text watermark in Word Step 1: Open the Word document. Step 2: Go the Insert tab on the ribbon and click on the Watermark option in the Page Background section. Step 3: The following window will appear on the screen. Click on the Custom Watermark option.

First, create your custom watermark. On the Design tab, select Watermark > Custom Watermark. Choose Picture Watermark and select a picture, or choose Text watermark and type your watermark text in the Text box.

Your watermark should protect your photo without taking away from the subject. You may want to avoid placing it over the main subject of the photo without placing it too far off to the side, as that can make it easier for art thieves to crop out. You can also place a watermark in a tiled pattern across your photo.

You'll need to open the header to select the watermark. Double-click near the top of the page to open the header. Click the watermark to select it. (Try moving the cursor over the watermark until the cursor displays a four-headed arrow.) Drag the watermark where you want it on the page.

On the Design tab, select Watermark. In the Insert Watermark dialog, select Text and either type your own watermark text or select one, like DRAFT, from the list. Then, customize the watermark by setting the font, layout, size, colors, and orientation. If you don't see the watermark, click View > Print Layout.

How to Position Your Watermark. There are two main areas for placing your watermark. Some people like to place them in the bottom left corner, and others prefer to use the top right. You can also try using both of these positions within a single image.

Choose the picture you want, and select Insert. On the Layout tab, under Page Background, select Watermark. Select Picture. Choose Select Picture, and then locate the picture that you want to use as a watermark. Choose Insert, Notes:
