In Texas, employers are required to provide you with unpaid time off for reporting to jury selection or jury duty.

No. While courts can pay travel costs, subsistence allowances and allowances for loss of earnings and other financial loss to individuals who attend jury service, no payment is made to third parties such as employers.

You will be paid by the county in an amount not less than $6.00 and not more than $50.00 per day or fraction of a day served. However, the Commissioners Court of a county may choose to reduce or eliminate the daily compensation for prospective jurors who attend court for only one day without actually serving on a jury.

If an employee attends jury service, the employer may choose: to pay the employee in full during the absence on jury service; to pay the employee to a limited extent, for example full pay for a certain number of days' jury service; to pay the difference between the court allowance and the employee's normal wages; or.

What does jury duty pay? If the trial you are sitting on goes for between 1 and 10 days, you get $106.30 per day, however if the trial goes on for 11 days or longer, you get paid $247.40 for each day thereafter, if you are employed. If you are not employed, you continue to receive $106.30 per day.

Payment. You will be paid a $50.00 attendance fee for each day you are required to report for jury duty. However, you will not be paid if you appear and are excused for a reason that was well known to you at the time you received your jury summons.

Legally, employers are not required to pay an employee whilst out of the business on jury service as the courts can pay for loss of earnings, travel costs and a subsistence rate during jury service. However, companies can decide to continue to pay employees as a gesture of goodwill.

Texas law does not currently require that jury duty leave be paid, except for those who are salaried exempt employees (see below). A bill that would have required employers to pay $40 of jury duty pay for the first day of jury service did not pass during the 81st general session of the Texas Legislature in 2009.

What is the juror pay? Effective September 1, 2013, the juror pay is $6 for the first day and $40 for every day thereafter. The County is currently reimbursed $34 for the second day of service and forward by the State of Texas.
