Title: Houston Texas — Informing Debt Collector of False Representations Claiming Affiliation with the United States Dear [Debt Collector's Name], I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention an issue of concern regarding your recent collection activities related to an outstanding debt purportedly associated with my name. It has come to my attention that false or misleading representations have been employed, specifically implying that your agency is vouched for, bonded by, or affiliated with the United States government. I am confident that this error is unintentional and can be resolved promptly. Firstly, it is vital to clarify that as a resident of Houston, Texas, I am well aware of the various laws and regulations that govern debt collection practices. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FD CPA) explicitly prohibits deceptive or misleading tactics employed by debt collectors, including falsely claiming affiliation with any government entity such as the United States. This verification should include the original creditor's name, the debt amount, and any supporting documentation, such as statements or contracts.
