Dear [Debt Collector's Name], I am writing to address a concerning matter regarding your recent collection activities related to a debt allegedly owed by me. I have become aware of false or misleading misrepresentations made by your agency, specifically regarding the false representation or implication that you are vouched for, bonded by, or affiliated with the United States government. Firstly, it is essential to clarify that your agency's association with the United States government has been falsely presented or implied. I would like to bring to your attention that any attempts to mislead or deceive consumers through such false representations are strictly prohibited under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FD CPA). As a resident of San Diego, California, I am well-aware of my rights as a consumer. The FD CPA is a federal law enacted to protect individuals from unfair and deceptive debt collection practices. False representation or implication of being vouched for, bonded by, or affiliated with the United States government is a violation of this act. This letter serves as an official notice of your false or misleading misrepresentations. It is important that you rectify this matter immediately and cease any further dissemination of misleading information suggesting any connection between your agency and the United States government. Failure to comply with this request and to cease any false or misleading representations may result in legal action, including but not limited to filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and pursuing a legal remedy available under the FD CPA. I urge your agency to take this matter seriously and to rectify the situation promptly. Please confirm your receipt of this letter within [a reasonable time frame] and inform me of the corrective measures you will undertake to remedy this situation. I believe in resolving matters amicably, and I hope we can reach a satisfactory resolution without further escalation.
